When Mom Is Sick/PSF

So what do you think happens at our house when the mama is too sick to make Christmas cookies with the kiddos?

The (step)Dad does it that’s what.

Actually while we were shopping yesterday we passed by the Christmas cookie ingredient section of the store and Christopher mentioned that I still hadn’t made any Christmas cookies yet this year (I think he was trying his best to make me feel guilty).

Unfortunately I’ve been sick this week and haven’t felt like doing much of anything and I wasn’t about to spend any more time in the kitchen other than the time it takes to make the lasagna I’d already promised them.

So he did the next best thing.

He purchased refrigerated cookie dough and icing.

. . . .and made cookies with Cade.

Cade loves using the rolling pin. He has his own small one but decided to just take over Chris’.

He used my very old cookie cutters that my Mom used when I was a youngster.

. . .and loved eating the little left-over pieces of dough.

I can’t believe this child loved getting his hands into everything. He used to make me wash off every little thing he got on them .

They even added sprinkles.

YUM!!

Oh No. I didn’t know you weren’t feling well. Well, I hope that you start feeling better soon especially with Christmas around the corner.

I normally make cookies every year and take them to the maternity area where I delivered Cameron as well as to my OBGYN’s office. I am just so grateful that they were there this time of year for us as we prepared for Cameron’s arrival. This year… probably won’t happen which bothers me. I am late on Christmas cards too, but I am hoping to somehow, someway make Christmas cookies with Cameron and you just gave me the GREAT idea to buy the already made dough, but use cookie cutters and decorate them as well. Alot easier especially since I am recovering from my surgery.

    Feel better!!

I hope you are feeling well SOON! The photos are great and what a team they made. That sprinkled cookie looks delicious!

I hope that you feel better soon. Looks like (step) dad did a great job!

  • Lori of I’m no super Mom

I am sorry you aren’t feeling well! That was me last week, so I feel your pain. It looks like things worked out though and they had a blast.

  • Tammie @ Are You For Real?

Thanks for your visit to my blog. You have a beautiful, snowy place here!

What fun they had! Making cookies is always a hit with kids … it’s creative, it’s hands on, and the results are delicious. So glad your guys enjoyed their time together.

  • Monkey’s Momma

Monkey and I made cookies today too. We are making more next week. This is the first day I have felt really good all week long. Of course, I am back to work tonight!

  • Maggie May

Hope you are feeling better now. In some homes its a tragedy when the Mum gets sick but obviously not in your household!

  • Michelle

I hope your feeling better real soon!

Making cookies is so much fun. I’m glad your men had some good bonding time over the christmas cookies.

  • Tiaras and Tantrums

fantastic – hope you feel better – and I haven’t done cookies yet either – and I am not even close to sick!

  • Kelli @ Gohn Crazy

I hope you feel better soon. It’s no fun if Momma’s sick. Although they do look like they had a good time. That’s my kind of sugar cookies anyway. I love sugar cookies but HATE making them.

Great photos! In the end, all that really matters is that your boy got a chance to eat dough, eat cookies, and spend time with his Dad. That is what the holidays are really all about, right? :)

I have visited your site several times, but am finally de-lurking today and saying hello. Found you through Keri’s Forever Folding Laundry. What fun!

  • Mommy2Twinkies-Deb

Oh! Yum is right! That’s awesome! And you have a great husband. I wish my hubby was feeling well enough to do that! :-(

Hey, when you feel better, I have a giveaway going on over at my site this week..

  • Chris

What a guy! Way to step in and take one for the team. He really looks like he’s suffering. Hope you get feeling better soon.

  • Krystyn

Oh, fun! What a great dad for pitching in and helping!

  • Amanda

Oh how I covet your kitchen.
