Just A Glimpse
This post is for all the lovely people in California who are a few of the lucky folks to receive a visit from my hubby Christopher during his visit back home. He’s been calling often and mentioning that he’s shown the blog to some of you so I thought I would share a little of his life here in Indiana with you.
I wonder often why he would choose to stay here in this unpredictable as far as weather is concerned place pretty much smack dab in the middle of the country so far from his family and many friends back on the west coast.
Of course those of you that know him well know that he is always the life of the party everywhere he goes, he knows no stranger and is loved by everyone he meets.
While living here:
He goes on “guy trips” to football games every fall/winter.
He plans birthday parties for me with all my best girlfriends, then “pretend” smooches my son in the middle of PF Chang’s just for a laugh.
He takes me to fancy New Year’s Eve parties in ritzy hotels with his best buddies.
He dances on tabletops at parties as the Colts score the winning points at superbowl 2007
He takes my son to “touch” the trophy the Colts received for winning above-mentioned superbowl.
He acts like a six year old while playing with my six year old.
He still visits the ocean, just on the opposite side of the country
He “pretend” flies a warplane while in a museum in Florida
He takes me to dinner cruises on the ocean.
He spends “Carb Day” with his buddies every year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
He builds things, with a little help from his “now” father-in-law
He meets up with friends to see Jimmy Buffett in concert every year
He dresses in crazy tropical attire to go to said concert.
He follows the rule “you can only drink tequila or corona while at Buffett”. (I don’t follow this rule)
He enjoys time with crazy nurse friends working in PICU
He goes to the Pumpkin Patch and picks out his very own pumpkin
He rides all the rides with my little boy.
He carves pumpkins.
The tongue thing he has done since I’ve known him, which one of you taught him that? Teeheehee
He met up with brother Shane in Kentucky only to drive further south to Tennessee to watch Titans play football
He tailgates
He lifts my little boy to place the topper on the Christmas tree because he’s too big for me to do that with now.
He takes me to fancy seafood restaurants because he now likes seafood since trying it in Florida
He takes me to see Chicago (the band, not the place)
He sings karaoke at this years New Years Eve party
He plays a crazy “shock” game with my brother after getting entirely polluted on New Years
He takes me to the casino and to see “Air Supply”
He introduces new friends to his group at Carb Day this year
He helps me to bring my boy up to love sports by taking him to an Indians baseball game
He still goes to theme parks, it’s not quite Disneyland, but it’s still fun nonetheless
He goes to Chicago to see the Cubs play at Wrigley field.
Chris really does miss everyone back home in California and I know at times the thought, “what if” has crossed his mind. That’s why he’s visiting, and he will continue visiting, now more frequently because I know it’s just not easy being separated from family and friends for so long. I’m very thankful I don’t have that worry. Hopefully next time I’ll be able to join him on his trip back home and finally get to meet all the people who made him who he is.
