Not A Happy Morning
Up until recently on the nights Chris works I would allow Cade to sleep in my bed. Recently though I’ve been trying my best to get him to sleep by himself in his own bed. He’s been doing a pretty good job too, that is until this morning at 4am. I heard him first trudging through the kitchen walking with his little elephant feet, then appearing in my doorway holding his “Are You My Mother” puppy dog. He waited what seemed like an eternity for an invitation to crawl in my bed. Of course I couldn’t say no, he is my baby after all. So for the next 2 hours we snuggled until time to awaken for his school day. Six o’clock came way too quickly for both of us, I for one spent entirely too much time reading book number 3 of the Twilight series last night and was still extremely tired. He on the other hand is never a morning person and usually cries and throws himself all over the bed saying how tired he is and that his legs hurt. I decided to try a different tactic and pretended to be his favorite dog Hunni and snorted in his ear a few times. He usually thinks things like this are hilarious and he did wake up laughing, but then it backfired. At this point he decided it would be a great time to play with Hunni in bed. This is something they would do every night before he would fall asleep and I suppose he misses that. Of course there really wasn’t time for this and I told him so. The crying started, but once I started his shower for him he did get up and stumble to the bathroom. Things went rather smoothly from that point on. He didn’t take a half hour long shower like he does most mornings, he ate his breakfast quickly and was completely ready in time to watch cartoons before leaving.
Walking back from putting him on the school bus I was thinking, just trying to come up with some way to make our mornings a little less frustrating. I come inside, go to turn the bathroom light off and what do you think was waiting for me?
