Buffett Concert & A Wedding

On July 21st Chris’ divorce was finally final!! As many of you are aware we have been waiting over a year to be married so this was exciting news. His first attorney was paid in full, but never filed the papers so Chris had to hire another attorney and go through the entire process again. So here we are finally.

Every year there is a group of us that get together to go to see Jimmy Buffett in concert with a casual cookout prior to the concert. This year we decided to tailgate up at Verizon with our friends. We figured since most of our friends were going to be there with us what better time than this to get married. Dan, Chris’ best friend ever since moving here from California is licensed clergy in the state of Indiana so Reverend Dan (his new nickname) agreed to perform the ceremony. The following are photos from our day.

Crysta, our friend that works in PICU with Chris

Tenille our other friend that works in PICU with Chris

This is Jerome, he’s our DD (designated driver). He’s also one of the best men in the whole world. He stays sober so that the rest of us can get completely polluted. A true gentlemen, he’s the one who blocks the doorway to the van so we can change without anyone seeing, he brings wipes so we can clean ourselves up when we fall in the mud and get completely dirty and makes sure we have water so we don’t get dehydrated in the sun. He also buys pink flamingos to decorate our tent with as you can see here. We love our Jerome.

This is me before the ceremony begins asking Cade if he wants to stand up with us. Yes he did.

This is my best friend since kindergarten, Carol. That’s 33 long years of wonderful memories.

Here we are at the beginning of the ceremony, Mike is standing up for Chris since Dan was playing the part of “Reverend Dan”. By no means does that put him second choice, he probably would have had both of them standing up if Dan wasn’t already busy. They are like the 3 Amigos.

Chris & I listening to what “The Reverend” had to say.

Dan was almost as excited as we were about this wedding. This was his first wedding. He did an awesome job.

This is the part where I say “With this ring I thee wed” and put a ring on Chris’ finger

…only it wouldn’t hardly go on. Reverend Dan asked if Chris might need some lasix.

Okay, I think he pronounced us “Man & Wife” sometime around here and we did kiss, but the picture was very blurry.

Another shot of my matron/maid of honor (she’s divorced, so which one is the proper term?)

The “Reverend Dan” giving Chris a congratulatory hug.

The same for me. We love you Dan.

Our almost complete wedding party, Britt ran off somewhere. “Where did you go chickie?”

Oh, she came back for the family photo. We’re just one big “happy” family.

Chris gave Cory a hug and a handshake, here’s the handshake. Cory really does love Chris, they’re buds.

Ok, this was unexpected. One of the other parties sent over a wedding gift of “Mike’s Hard Lemonade” I was delightfully surprised.

Carol and me, not so sure that I like the “lemonade”. I’m actually a whino, I really only drink wine. Though there have been times I have also done shots of Crown followed by a beer chaser. I also used to drink rum and cokes back when I used to stay with my friend Jules on work nights. Long ago though my drink of choice were “Long Island Iced Teas” until the night I drank 6 of them in 2 hours and tossed my cookies, haven’t touched them since. Did I mention I only drink wine?

Here you can almost see our entire outfits. We used to always buy matching clothes. Brings back all those fun girly memories. If only we had matching suntans. I guess that would require going outside more often.

Carol & I were famished, here we are enjoying our cheeseburgers. That’s the only food we’re allowed on Buffett days. Did I mention I’m really craving pizza here? I mean I would have settled for cheeseburger pizza – hey I follow rules.

Okay, I’m really glad Jerome (he was also our photographer) got this shot since our marriage kiss was all blurry. I can understand why it blurred though since Dan & Chris decided there had to be a super mushy kiss involved and I think Chris was afraid I wouldn’t cooperate so he was let’s say a little aggressive and almost knocked me down. Teeheehee.

Jerome & Tenille

Yay, Chris can finally get his drink on.

Well, I’m not quite sure of the names, but these girls came with Crysta I think.

I have no clue what was so funny here, but it was good I’m sure.

Jerome reminds me of Crocodile Dundee here.

What do you know, Chris didn’t have to rub his own nipples, Mike helped him out here.

The 3 Amigos.

Chris and Crysta have become really good friends since working in the PICU together, she’s not very happy he’s going to work somewhere else.

Burger time. I love the coconut bra.

These were complete strangers that heard there was a wedding going on so they joined us on our happy if not comical day.

They also liked the idea of playing limbo.

Will he make it?

This guy made it.

More strangers that joined in. I found out later that his name is Bob & they are from Fort Wayne.

I believe that is Dan helping shove Chris under the limbo stick.

Chris, Tenille and Lisa (Tenille’s best friend)

Jerome taking it easy.

Chris & Crysta, she’s just as wild as Chris (must be the ADHD). They are so much fun together. However does Tenille handle working 12 whole hours with the 2 of them together.

Okay, the sun was a little bright here, but you can see that Chris is getting ready to smash this cupcake into my face. I’m happy I chose the yellow instead of the blue.

Yes he did, just you wait Christopher.

His face wasn’t nearly as messy as mine, thank goodness yet again for Jerome and his wipes.

Our day was wonderful, everyone seemed to have a great time and no one was injured thankfully. Only 1 person drank enough to be sick (not Chris this year), and only 1 got dizzy enough to go for a mudslide, but I’m not naming names. They can share their own stories. Teeheehee
